Common Dog Skin Disease - Fungal Skin Infection
Information, Signs, Symtoms and Treatment




Fungal Skin Infection (Ringworm) is a contagiousis skin disease and mostly caused by 2 types of fungi, which are Microsporum and Trichophyton. Ringworm will resolve themselve after 2 to 4 months. Althought, treament is still recommended to prevent your to suffer from this disease for longer time.

The signs and symptoms of Fungal Skin Infection (Ringworm):

- The dog may feel itchy on the infected area.
- Hair loss in circular patches and the skin appear reddish and a scaly temporary baldness which look like a ring.
- Infected area start with a small spot and contine to increased in scales.
- Mostly happens in face, ear, legs, feet and tail.

Treatment for Fungal Skin Infection (Ringworm):

(1) Use Iodine Scrub

- Use tame Iodine Scrub to kill the fungals and prevent the it to spred to other area.

(2) Appply Lime Sulfur dip

Soak the dog with Lime Sulfur dip twice a week for two weeks and once a week for another 4 to 6 weeks.
Lime Sufur dip can cause stain on jewellary.

(3) Apply Neem oil, Neem Shampoo and Neem Soap

- Use Neem oil, Neem Shampoo and Neem Soap to wash the dog for once or twice a day.

(4) Apply anti-fungal cream and anti-fungal shampoo

- Apply anti-fungal shampoo over the whole body and leave it for 5 minutes before rinse it thoroughy with water.
- Apply the anti-fungal crean on the fungal lesions once a day for 10 days.

(5) Cleae and Vacuum the house regularly

- Clean and vacuum your house throroughly to remove the fungal spores.
