Common Dog Skin Disease - Demodectic Mange
Information, Signs, Symtoms and Treatment


Demodectic Mange is a skin disease which caused by a tiny mite called Demodex canis. This tiny mite can only be seen under a microscope. The mite is hidden in hair follicles. This disease is mostly happen on dogs in the younger age of 3 months to 1 year. This tiny mite is passed from mothers to the new born puppies. After the dog has grown older and have the enough immunity, this disease will not occur again.

The signs and symptoms of Demodectic Mange:

- Loss hair around the eyes, mouth and front legs
- Appear of red and crusty skin

Demodectic Mange may recover itself within 3 months. If condition is not getting well and even involve in larger area, treatment will be needed.

Treatment for Demodectic Mange:

(1) Select Raw Food Diet

- Stop feeding commercial dog food and change the food to fresh raw meat, raw pulverized vegetables, carrots, Tofu.

(2) Give nutritional supplement to your dog

(3) Apply Neem oil and Neem tea

- Use Neem oil to massage on the affected area of your dog once or twice per day.
