History and Origin
American Eskimo Dog, "Eskie", is descended from several of Spitz dogs such as Italian Spitz, German Spitz, White Pomeranian and White Keeshond. American Eskimos were migrated to America from Europe around 1800s and recognized by AKC on 1994.

Temperament
American Eskimos are friendly, intelligent, alert, active and easy to train.
Owners of American Eskimos is encouraged to socialize them with other dogs or people from a younger age to avoid American Eskimos from getting too shy or aggressive.
They are good wath dogs but not a good guard dog because of their small size.
Eskies are not suitable to live outdoor.
They are very affectionate dog.
They are excellent with children.
Description (Appearance)
The color of the coat for a standard American Eskimos is either white or biscuit cream.
Skin tone is allowed to be pink or grey.
Blue eyes are disqualified for American Eskimo.
Size
Toy Size: 9 in. (22.8 cm) to 12 in. (30.5 cm) at withers.
Miniature Size: >12 in. (30.5 cm) to 15 in. (38.1 cm).
Standard Size: >15 in. (38.1 cm) to 19 in. (48.3 cm).
Living Conditions
American Eskimos is suitable to live in an apartment if sufficient exercise is given.
Eskies are very active indoors. Having a small yard is a good choice for it.
Exercise demand
Eskies love to walk. Owners of Eskies can bring them to a leash or a safely enclosed yard to let them exercise, run or play.
Health problems
American Eskimos are generally quite healthy.
However, they will also prone to some potential health problems, such as: Epilpsy, Diabetes, Elbow and knee degeneration, Cataracts, Hip dysplasia and Urinary stones.
American Eskimos also prone to flea allergies and hence leat to dermatitis.
To avoid Dermantitis, owners of Eskies should always make sure the coat of Eskies is clean and free of fleas.
Life Expectancy
Around 12 to 14 years.
Grooming
Eskies have relatively long hair and regular grooming is needed for them to prevent tangle.
They are heavy shedder.
Special Concern
American Eskimos are easily prone to severe allergies to fleas.
