Dogs for wildboar hunting may seem cruel to many ppl but as breeders and dog enthusiats this may seems to be interesting because it is a method to bring out the fullest potential of each dog and by all means legal from the country I am from.
It is unlike dog fighting where dogs with great stamina, power jaws, agile are put together to contest for the best of both. In boar hunting, dogs need not only the attributes from above, they require other skills like tracking either by ground scenting or air scenting, teamwork, maneuver across thick bushes in tropical rainforest and etc.
Though no doubt about it, dogs that are specialize in dog fighting like pitbull are most suitable in many ways for their tenacity, power and terrier instinct to chase prey, however, many of this dogs end up in the tusk of boars, fatality rate is too high to be consider the best breed for the job.
Besides it is also depends on many other factors to find the perfect dog for the jobs, it is also hunter specific, not all hunters want their dogs to catch and hold the boars, some want them to only track and locate the dogs, some want their dogs to corner and only bay at the boars to confused them. Moreover, terrain and vegetation in the hunting ground do play a big role; the perfect dog in a plantation might not be the perfect dog in the plane. But in all, to get a dog that will be able to perform fairly well in all conditions can be consider the best breed.
In Argentina, ppl use Dogo Argentino, in some part in US ppl use pit bull, pit/mastiff mix, cur/pit mix etc. In Australia, bull Arab is the most famous as the all rounder. Many other variety and mix are tried and each of them has their own saying. So how about rainforest, a place with dense understorey vegetation, muddy forest floor and high humidity? What is the perfect breed, prefect combination? No such breed is documented yet as I can remember.
I will go check out and put up some follow-up next time.
